Chariots
Chariots were large, yet light, vehicles that rode on two wheels and was drawn by one or more horses. It would often carry two standing people: a driver and a fighter using bow and arrows and/or javelins. The chariot was the supreme military weapon in Eurasia that began in about 1700 BCE. The chariot was not only used for warfare, but was also used for hunting and sporting events such as the Roman Olympics. The chariot was used by ancient Egyptians as a means of transportation. A chariot could go up to a speed of about 25 miles per hour and was the fastest method of transportation besides the normal horseback riding.
Although chariots could be used for transportation, it was not very useful in that purpose. Horseback riding was faster than a chariot and chariots are much more difficult to construct and also more expensive. The main purpose for these chariots was for war purpose, where the tactic would be to have a driver and a fighter. The driver would keep the chariot in constant motion while the fighter launched arrows and javelins. (Rodrigo Rovner)

Other Transportation
Camels were used sometimes for transportation, as they could hold up to 1000 pounds of cargo. They were frequently used by traders, as they could carry much of the goods. Walking was also a main form of transportation. It was the most common form, as it was the simplest. Donkeys and horses were used as well for transportation. A single horse can travel up to 25 miles per day and a single donkey can travel up to 20 miles per day. The last transportation used was travel by boat. It was the fastest method for transportation, but could obviously not be used on land. When traveling to another area that could be reached through water, people would use rafts and ships for transportation. (Rodrigo Rovner)
