Corvee
Corvee (Statue Labor) is known as unpaid labor that was given to the people by government, usually for the maintenance of roads or cutting down of . In this case people would pay for goods with their labor instead of with taxes. Lower class people were the most common candidates for this type of labor.
A good example of Corvee is the building of the Great Wall of China since some of the builders weren't paid.

Rents and Tributes
Tributes were a sort of gift a party would give to another as a sign of respect for the other. Tributes were accepted by the leaders or rulers of a certain people. These tributes would come in handy if there was a declaration of war and a alliance were needed by a civilization. Rents were paid taxes to the one in charge as a sign of submission or respect.
